12月12日 Christmas presentTo my surprise, I got 2 Christmas presents on Sunday.
One was from one of my student's mom, she told me that she & her kid might not be able to come next week, so, she gave it to me this week.
The other was from the school principle, she told me not to tell any one.....seems not all of the teachers got presents from her.
so, Christmas shopping is inevitable this week, I need to buy a Christmas present for the school principle.
As to my students, I already bought some coloring books in Taiwan and asked my sisters to send them to me 2 months ago.
12月7日 3 years oldJust got back from my trip to Caribbean.
Need a little time to get use to the weather here.
So coooooold in PA....
Last week, I gave lesson to those 3-5 years old kids.
I have a part time job as a Chinese Teacher on Sundays.
I've been teaching them for 3 months.
Anyway, that lesson I gave this weekend was terrible...
I taught them how to say "一隻" & "火雞".
The kids can say it perfectly.
But when it comes to put those 4 words together...
It was a disaster....
That's my fault....I sometimes forgot most of them are only 3 years old....
7月2日 2nd Wedding AnniversaryI got two sweet suprises....a bouquet of roses and an 80GB iPod on 6/28. Because our wedding anniversary was the coming day. My dearest husband secretly (without my knowing) prepared the gifts for me and he also had iPod carved few sweet words.
So, I've been learning how to use iPod recently. My iPod is great, it has 80GB capacity and can be uploaded up to 20,000 songs. Of couse, uploading photoes, movies, podcasts, audiobooks, game...are also parts of its feature. It's a great gift and I love it.
Besides our wedding anniversay on 6/29, it's also a day that iPhone first appeared on the market. There were lots of iPhone TV ads before it hit the market. It looked very cool. So, we went to Apple store to experience iPhone. It's as good as TV ad said it would be. The disadvantages I could find were slow internet connection and low capacity. It only offers 4GB and 8BG, which I think is far too few for my standard.
We will get the iphone as soon as it can reach the capacity 80GB, same as my iPod.
P.S. "Live free or Die hard" is a great movie, I highly recommend people who are interested in action movie to see the movie. 9月20日 Visit a cat doctorWe were surprised to find Graycie was limping when she walked into the kitchen on Saturday morning. "It must be the long nails that we were afraid to cut caused the limping" we thought. Since it was Saturday, chances were no cat clinic were open. We took our chance and called the near-by cat clinic, but got no answer. Though Graycie got better after one or two hours, we still decided that it's time to see a cat doctor and took care of its long nails, which bothered us quite some time.
The clinic is specialized for cats and we made an appointment in Monday morning and took Graycie to the cat clinic at 5:45pm in the afternoon. The cat doctor examed Graycie thoroughly and found Graycie was in good shape, though a little bit over-weight. After health examination, the doctor trim Graycie's nails fast and precise, which surprised us. Because we thought trimming those two specific long nails might caused her pain, obviously, we were wrong...
It cost us $53.00 to make sure Graycie was fine, which we thought was worth it. 9月15日 My birthdayIt's a day full of surprises. My mother-in-law called early in the morning and wished me "Happy Birthday", which embarressed me a lot. Because I should be the one who called her, not she called me....
Walking into our kitchen and I found a bouquet of roses and a birthday card waiting for me. I was surprised and happy. Though, the weather was not good, it rained on and off all day, still, we went to New York as planed. We bought tickets to Yankees Stadium days ago to watching Wang, Chieng-Ming playing baseball.
We arrived Yankees Stadium 2 hours ago before the game, watched Yankees players praticing. Suddenly, Wang came out and practiced with his teammate for about 20 mintues. This was the first time we stood so close to Wang in person. He was about 30 feet away from us. Fish didn't waste any time. He took out our camera and took some pictures of him.
Wang was supposed to be today's pitcher for Yankees. Due to the uncertainty of the weather, Yankees changed its pitcher to someone else two hours before the game. It's a shock to Wang's fan including us....we came all the way here to watch Wang play and they just changed the pitcher....Well, at least we saw Wang in close range...
In the middle of the 6th inning, the electronic board in Yankees Stadium show "HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA HUNG", that's another bithday present from my dearest husband. It is a day full of surprises.... 9月13日 Having a coldWhenever I have a sore throat, I know it's an augury to have a cold. It's no exception this time.
The symptons I am suffering now including a sore and dry throat, a running nose, ears clogged, nasal congestion and body aches. I don't like to take medicion, so, I surfed on the web, tried to find remendies for my symptons. Some said that self-made honey and lemon water will help, which I did drink a lot yesterday. Other said that hot chicken soup will relief what you are suffering from a cold, which I did cook and drink lots of it. I can not say that they didn't work...acturally, those remendies did work in some way. They just didn't powerful enough to get rid of the cold....
It seems that staying in bed and rest is the best thing to do. Tomorrow is my birthday, hope my birthday won't be ruined by the cold.... 8月24日 Trip to Niagara FallsWe've planed to go to Niagara Falls since last month. Fish booked two different hotels, one in US and the other in Canada, in the early of Aug. The trip is around the corner < this Saturday to be exact >. And the weather forecast said that the weather around the Niagara Falls will not be good, 50% chance of raining, which means the firework might be cancelled due to the rain.
What a great disappointment! The reason we decided to visit Niagara Falls in the late of Aug. was because of the firework. They won't have the firework show after Sep.. Since the hotel in the US can not be cancelled, so, we decided to stick on our plan, but it won't be a 3-day-trip as planed. We will head for the Niagara Falls very early on Saturday morning and come back home on Sunday night.
Still can't wait for the trip. 8月22日 A TV programI was bored and brousing TV programs this morning as many housewifes do and came across a program called martha stewart show. It tells you how to cook and some other stuff. It also has a website that you can find on my list culumn at the left hand side. Kind of interesting... 7月21日 Select a Wedding Photo CompanyIn Taiwan, we take wedding photoes in a Wedding Photo Company before getting married. Me and Fish decided to go back to Taiwan in Nov. to take wedding photoes and hold a wedding banquet. That's what I am busy at recently .... trying to select a good Wedding-Photo Company.
I found tons of information and watched thousands of wedding photoes. Still haven't decided which company to pick.

6月22日 Nagging...I hate to be nagged. My mood is always influenced by someone who's nagging at me.
It happened yesterday when I didn't call Fish to clarify some matter that Fish had asked to do. As a result, Fish kept "talking" to me over 10 minutes on his way back home, which upset me greatly.
I am the kind of person who shows their feeling on their faces. I can not do anything about it even if I really want to get rid of the bad feeling. Still, the feeling just stick on my mind and won't go away for a very long long time...

Everyone in Taiwan waited his explaination on the scandles his family involved. But he didn't even mention it. All his talking was merely an attempt to get "pen-green" supporters sympathy, especially those who located in southern Taiwan. That's the reason why he used dialect in his whole address.
Really, I don't care if Chen is involved in those alleged scandles or not. Since he's the leader of Taiwan, he should take responsibility to whatever wrongdoings his wife, his relatives, his aides done. Because those scandles/wrongdoings only emphasize Chen's incapability of his leadership.

To prapare the road test, I started to look for information about the road test experience that people had in US. I got lots of information and learned what to expect during the road test. I also practiced my driving skill from time to time. Fish gave me lots of comment, which was very helpful.
It was not as difficult as I thought, acturally, it's quite easy. After pass the control of vehicle and paralle parking, the examiner instructed me where to drive. Five minutes later, we were back and I passed the exam.
The examiner led me to the office and apply for the new driver license. They took my picture, got my signature and made the driver license immediately. My hand writing was really ugly at the first time, so, I asked the lady to make the license again. That's their job, isn't it? The lady was quite angry about my request, but she had no choise but did what I asked.
After my test, we went to a Chinese restaurant to celebrate. Yeah~

After one week intensive care, the redness was gone and Fish felt much better now.
To our surprise, the doctor told Fish that the original symptons were coming back after 40 minutes' check. So, the doctor gave Fish a new eye drop and instructed Fish to use it with the old one, 4 times a day instead of 2 times and asked Fish to come back for follow-up on June 20th. It's just hard to believe, cause the eye looked normal.

6月15日 Bye bye TVOur 52'"TV set has been serving us for over 10 years. Few days ago, the image on the screen was uneven and could not be focused. Fish spent lots of time surfing on the net and tried to figure out what went wrong. But he didn't find the information he needed.
If we were in Taiwan, we could ask someone from repair store to check our TV for free. But here, that's not the way it works. Getting someone to check our TV costs money. If it's fixable, it costs money too. Since our TV set is in 3rd floor, moving the TV set also costs money <The TV set is too big and heavy, it's impossible to move it ourselves>.
Now, we are looking for a new TV, the price of 50' TV set begins from US$3,000... wow... that's a lot of money.

We visited the eye doctor as instructed. The doctor told Fish that it would take weeks for fully recovery. But if Fish had came to see him when the symptons occured, then, it would only take 3-4 days to get rid of them.
Well, what can I say!? We did go to see our family doctor in the very early begining. We both didn't expect things turn out like this.
The lesson I learned from the incident is...never visit our family doctor if we have any eye problems in the future.
MisdiagnoseSince Fish did not feel better this morning and the symptoms were getting worse, so, Fish made a call to our family doctor and visited him around noon. Our family doctor was surprised to see the seriousness of Fish's eye and he also couldn't figure out the reason. So, he transfered Fish's case to another clinic which was specilized in eyes.
We went to the clinic in the afternoon and Fish did some tests on his eyes. It turned out Fish didn't get red eye after all. What caused the symptoms, according to the eye doctor, was because.... the eye detected something that might affect itself. It seemed the eye has been trying to protect itself by releasing tears...etc, which was good. But the problem was it didn't know when to stop. That's why it got so serious.
So, we got new prescription and was told to use it per hour. Fish was asked to go back to the clinic and check the condiction tomorrow.
I couldn't help but think if our family doctor didn't misdiagnose in the first place, maybe Fish was now recovered already....
6月4日 Red eyeMy poor Fish has been suffering from Red Eye for over a week. His left eye is swollen and full of redness and tear. Fish did visit our family doctor 2 times last week, and has been taking medical eye drops since. But the symptoms is not easing, but getting severe instead.
I am worried and feel helpless for not being able to ease the pain Fish is now suffering. If he is not feeling better tomorrow, there's no doubt that we'll visit our family doctor the first thing tomorrow. 5月31日 French Creek State ParkMemorial Day is a national holiday in US. We had plan for this day. How's reading, having picnic and paddling on a lake in State Park sound like? Not bad, right? Yes, that's exactly what we decided to do.
We went to a nearby state park, which took us about 40 min. to get there. Because the weather was 80-90 F, which was really hot. So, we got there around 5:30pm, but the sun still shone vigorously. The park was full of people, BBQing, swimming and having fun.
Fish and me decided to rent a kayak first because the boat rental would close 7:00pm. The lake was quite big. And from time to time, we saw a family of ducks walking near the lake or swimming on the lake. Paddling on the lake was relaxing. Fish did the most paddling. It would be prefect if we brought a radio with us.
There are a lot of State Park nearby. So, we decided to visit another park next time to experience the difference. 5月11日 Bike ridingRecently, the sun sets around 8:00pm.
Fish and me went bike riding at 7:00 pm yesterday. There are two Bike Trail in the neighbourhood. The one we went is surrounded by trees. It felt like we were in a forest.
" Is it a deer?" I asked Fish when we were in the middle of nowhere.
" Where?? Oh~ yes, it is." Fish answered.
Wow~~ that's something you can not see in Taiwan. |
